The Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) is a growing network of sustainable communities and initiatives that bridge different cultures, countries, and continents. GEN serves as umbrella organization for ecovillages, transition town initiatives, intentional communities, and ecologically-minded individuals worldwide.

People and communities meet and share their ideas, exchange technologies, develop cultural and educational exchanges, directories and newsletters, and are dedicated to restoring the land and living a cooperative sustainable lifestyle.

The Solution Library first came to life as part of the “Ecovillage Strategies for Community Mobilization“ project lead by GEN Europe with generous funding by the Anne Lindh Foundation. The project is run in partnership with Center for Documentation of Cultural and Natural heritage, CULTNAT, Egypt; Association Rikab for Development Sustainability and Communication, Morocco; African Youth Initiative on Climate Change, Algeria; Peace Research Village Middle East, Palestine; and Guneşköy Çevre Kultur ve Işletme Kooperatifi, Turkey.

Gaia Education offers state-of-the-art study guides, training manuals, books, webinars, presentations and a quarterly newsletter to facilitate the delivery of on-line and on-site transformational learning opportunities for community development.

Since 2006, Gaia Education has successfully supported the delivery of more than 190 programmes in 34 countries over 6 continents, reaching thousands of people. Its programmes have been offered in settings ranging from tribal women and traditional communities to children and youth, ecovillages, urban slums, universities and resilience training centers.

The Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) course is a programme of GEN  partner, Gaia Education.  This curriculum was developed over a number of years by a group of Ecovillage educators from around the world calling themselves GEESE (Global Ecovillage Educators for Sustainable Earth). Launched in Findhorn in 2005, the Ecovillage Design Curriculum is an official contribution to the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development - UNDESD 2005-2014.

Kibbutz Lotan is located in the far South of Israel, 55 km. North of Eilat. It was founded by graduates of the Reform Jewish Youth movements of America and Israel in 1983. The population of the community fluctuates between 150-200 people. "Members" of the cooperative fluctuate between 45-65, with between 40 and 70 children. The community is multi-generational with parents of members living in the community by renting houses as do numerous families who are considering joining.

We first started as a spiritual group(Suseonjae). Founded in 1998, we have been doing the breathing practice. Through meditation for a couple of years, we got connected to various beings such as plants, animals, the great nature and even mother earth. The messages from them were all the same. – Humans are also part of nature and our original role was to become guidance of earth. They sadly said they almost lost hope from humans and they are losing faith and love they used to have for humans.

Maia Earth Village is an intuitive healing and spiritual community that has interests in raw food, permaculture and what is called innerdance process. The Beluga School for Life, is a learning village-community with about 240 inhabitants in the south of Thailand, in the province of Phang-Nga. Within the framework of the Thai Law, it provides shelter and education to 150 Thai children at risk, such as victims of the tsunami from 26th of December 2004, children with poor family backgrounds or abused children. The Beluga School for Life concept empowers these children to become successful socio- and eco- entrepreneurs in the future.

Gaia Trust, Denmark is a charitable entity supporting sustainabilty projects around the world. It was founded in 1987 on the initiative of Ross and Hildur Jackson, with the intention of supporting the transition to a sustainable and more spiritual future society through grants and proactive initiatives.
