About GEN

Vision, Mission, Goals

The Global Ecovillage Network envisions a world of empowered citizens and communities, designing and implementing their own pathways to a sustainable future, and building bridges of hope and international solidarity.

What is GEN?

The Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) is a growing network of sustainable communities and initiatives that bridge different cultures, countries, and continents. GEN serves as umbrella organization for ecovillages, transition town initiatives, intentional communities, and ecologically-minded individuals worldwide.

The Global Network

The Global Ecovillage Network is a truly global organization. Our work spans across six different regions - GEN-Africa, GEN-Europe, GENOA in Oceania & Asia, GENNA in North America, CASA in Latin America and NextGEN for the future generations of the planet. Internationally we coordinate through GEN-International.

GEN International Structure

The Global Ecovillage Network represents ecovillage networks, ecovillage projects and individuals committed to achieving the Mission and Goals of the organisation.

GEN International's continually-emerging structure functions through the coordination of several different organizing bodies: the GEN International Board, Working Groups, the GEN International Steering Committee, and the General Assembly. Additionally, GEN has several employed Staff who maintain the core organizational infrastructure and also manage GEN's funded projects.
